Clay 2008

This exhibition conflates three related bodies of work Pillars, White Knuckle Ride (film) and Clay. Which continues the exploration of the building process.

The Site depicts the initial ‘laying bare’ of a building site. It is a dramatic and beautiful part of the foundation. The upheaval is a prerequisite of the process. The disturbance to the land, the movement of soil and the unearthing of clay forge the first marks on the landscape.

The video travels around several construction-site hoarding and is accompanied by the sound track of a fun fair. Each ride is four minutes in duration, slows down and starts again.
